Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer Lead / BI Technical Lead with extensive experience in Power BI, Cognos, and enterprise-scale report migration. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in capital markets, especially within credit risk and trading domains, and will lead a large-scale reporting transformation initiative.

This is a hybrid position based in Iselin, NJ, and requires strong technical leadership, hands-on development, and the ability to work with offshore teams and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end migration of reporting solutions from IBM Cognos to Microsoft Power BI
Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and develop scalable, performant BI solutions
Perform gap analysis between Cognos and Power BI to ensure data and feature parity
Design and implement data models, DAX calculations, Power Query transformations, and data visualizations
Develop complex reports and dashboards using Power BI must be hands-on and able to write advanced DAX
Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure accurate and robust data pipelines
Define and enforce best practices for Power BI development and data governance
Mentor and provide technical guidance to BI developers (onshore and offshore)
Document processes, models, specifications, and migration steps
Serve as SME for Power BI adoption across the organization
Ensure data security and access control alignment with enterprise governance policies

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field
15+ years of overall BI/Data Analytics experience
Extensive experience in Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Power BI Service/Desktop
Strong hands-on experience with IBM Cognos and large-scale report migration projects
Expertise in SQL, data modeling, and relational databases
Experience in capital markets preferably in credit risk and trading systems
Experience in data governance, security models, and enterprise reporting standards
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to lead and mentor development teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Azure Data Platform, including Databricks
Familiarity with Agile/DevOps practices
Exposure to other BI tools like Tableau, Qlik, etc.
Microsoft Power BI certifications (PL-300, PL-600, or equivalent)
