Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Software Solutions Architect to design, implement, and support enterprise healthcare integration solutions for the MDHHS Health Services Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). This role is critical to ensuring reliable message transmission, secure system interoperability, and compliance with healthcare data standards across multiple statewide systems.
The architect will collaborate closely with DTMB Customer Services, MDHHS enterprise teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to enhance, integrate, and maintain interfaces connecting systems to the Health Enterprise Service Bus (HESB). This position plays a key role in modernizing automated processes, improving data integrity, and supporting mission-critical public health applications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable integration solutions for new healthcare use cases
  • Develop interfaces based on business and technical requirements
  • Translate business requirements into technical architecture and system designs
  • Develop custom filters and components using Rhapsody Developer Kit (RDK)
  • Create and manage mappers and mapper definitions using EDI message design tools
  • Write and maintain JavaScript (v1 and v2) filters within Rhapsody
  • Develop and consume SOAP, REST, and web service APIs
  • Perform data format transformations including:
    • HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3
    • FHIR
    • CDA / CCDA
    • XML, JSON, and flat files
  • Support CDA mapping and document conversions
  • Establish and maintain database connections (SQL Server and Oracle)
  • Configure secure transport mechanisms including TCP, HTTP, LLP, and OAuth
  • Ensure compliance with SDLC and SUITE documentation standards
  • Provide architectural oversight and guidance to business analysts and integration teams
  • Own overall system design, code quality, and configuration governance
Required Skills & Experience
Technical & Healthcare IT Expertise
  • Strong JavaScript development experience
  • Proficiency in SQL and XML
  • Hands-on experience with HL7 v2.x messaging
  • Experience implementing HL7 FHIR standards
  • Working knowledge of CDA/CCDA standards and document types
  • Familiarity with healthcare vocabularies:
    • LOINC
    • SNOMED
    • RxNorm
  • Experience with Health Information Exchange (HIE) technologies
  • Knowledge of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) frameworks
  • Experience implementing solutions based on formal Implementation Guides
