Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to support enterprise data governance initiatives in an onsite environment. The role focuses on governance execution, metadata management, risk assessment, and collaboration with data owners to ensure data quality, compliance, and traceability across business applications and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate data governance routines, meetings, and deliverable tracking
- Provide governance oversight for critical data used in applications, metrics, and reporting
- Perform technical and analytical reviews of data use requests and business requirements
- Partner with data owners to identify and document business and technical metadata
- Maintain data dictionaries, data catalogs, lineage, and metadata repositories
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and integrity of metadata; escalate issues as required
- Design process flows and diagrams using Visio
- Identify, assess, manage, and escalate data-related risks
- Apply enterprise data management policies to ensure compliance and mitigate exposure
- Align data governance practices with financial institution standards
Required Experience:
- 10+ years in roles requiring strong analytical thinking and problem-solving
- 5+ years in technical or analytical roles (non-development)
- 5+ years of experience in data governance and/or metadata management
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of data management and data governance principles
- Experience managing Critical Data Elements (CDEs) from authoritative data sources
- Proven ability to work with data consumers to capture use cases and requirements
- Experience aligning business data needs with accurate, fit-for-purpose data sources
- Hands-on experience with metadata management tools and enterprise data catalogs
- Strong understanding of data lineage frameworks and traceability
- Experience managing business and technical metadata
- Proven ability to manage governance processes, routines, and deliverables
- Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance in financial institutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with internal audit and regulatory teams
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience using JIRA in Agile environments
- Data Management certifications (e.g., CDMP)
Soft Skills:
- Self-driven, motivated, and quick to learn
- Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven stakeholder management and collaboration abilities
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
