job summary:

We are seeking an experienced AS400 COBOL Programmer to support the technology used in RF scanner systems at our warehouse locations. The ideal candidate will have strong development and maintenance experience on the iSeries/AS400 platform, with recent hands-on COBOL programming expertise. This role also requires proficiency in modern Java-based enterprise systems, making it ideal for candidates who can bridge legacy systems with newer technologies.

responsibilities:


  • Provide technical support and enhancements for RF scanner systems used across warehouse operations.
  • Maintain and develop applications on the iSeries/AS400 platform using COBOL.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and implement application enhancements.
  • Participate in modernization efforts by integrating AS400 systems with newer enterprise applications.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.


qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of COBOL programming experience on AS400/iSeries platforms (within the last 5 years).
  • Hands-on experience in both application development and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of Java/J2EE, RESTful Web Services, and API development.
  • Proficiency with multiple operating systems: AIX, Linux, Windows.
  • Database experience with DB2 and MySQL.
  • Familiarity with WebSphere, Tomcat, FTP, Email systems.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery.
  • Tools: Microsoft Office, Visio, Eclipse, Jira, Change Management systems.
