Yuma County - known as the sunniest place on Earth - is seeking an innovative and collaborative Chief Information Officer (CIO) to guide its countywide IT strategy and support a thriving community of 230,000 residents.

About the Role
The CIO leads a team of 35 professionals across five divisions, including telecommunications, systems administration, GIS, and IT operations. Reporting to the Deputy County Administrator, the CIO will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for countywide technology
  • Direct and develop division managers and technical staff
  • Manage departments budgeting, staffing, contracts and technology procurement
  • Oversee modernization efforts, including Phase 2 of the County's Oracle Cloud optimization initiative
  • Promote collaboration, innovation, cybersecurity, and service excellence

The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking, personable IT leader who excels at building high-performing teams. They are:

  • Knowledgeable in modern and emerging technology practices
  • Experienced in directing and overseeing multiple large-scale technology programs and projects
  • A strategic thinker and planner
  • Experienced with using continuous business practices for processes and software products
  • A strong communicator across all levels of an organization

Qualifications
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities, typically including:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, including at least five years in a management capacity
