Senior Risk Technical Writer
A Top Fortune 50 Financial Services Company is seeking a highly motivated Senior Risk Technical Writer to work hybrid for our client in Vienna, VA.
Overview:
Compile, research, and analyze risk-related data to support decision-making across IT Risk and ISD functions.
Partner with SMEs to gather and document business processes, functional requirements, workflows, and system controls.
Develop and maintain high-quality documentation including: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manuals, Functional and business requirements, Risk control frameworks, Reporting procedures and templates.
Create and maintain risk reporting frameworks; evaluate findings and prepare actionable insights and recommendations.
Support IT Risk functions such as:
Internal and external audit response
Control testing documentation
Vulnerability management reporting
Issue tracking and resolution documentation
Ensure that documentation aligns with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and risk management frameworks.
Serve as a documentation and training specialist for diverse IT Risk teams, ensuring clarity, usability, and consistency in content delivery.
Apply broad and in-depth knowledge of risk principles, business analysis, and documentation practices to high-impact, cross-functional projects.
Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on best practices for documentation and risk reporting.
Participate in or lead project efforts that require the coordination of technical and business resources.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
10+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, IT risk, documentation, or related roles.
Strong understanding of IT risk domains including audit, compliance, vulnerability management, control testing, and issue management.
Proven ability to gather and translate complex business or technical requirements into clear, actionable documentation.
Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Confluence, JIRA, Visio, or other process mapping/documentation platforms.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience supporting cross-functional teams and acting as a liaison between business and technical teams.
