Your Title: Firmware Engineer

Job Location: Dayton, OH

Our Department: CTCT

The Firmware Engineeris responsible forworking closely with Hardware Engineering, Firmware Engineering, and Quality Assurance to design, develop, and test the firmware deployed on Trimble real-time hardware sensors and other devices.

What You Will Do
  • To diligently design, develop, implement, debug, support, and maintain firmware.
  • Monitor and manage testing and debugging with circuit emulators, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Define firmware architecture with regard to signal processing and controller requirements
  • Respond to marketing requirements, architect, plan, and deliver effective interlocks with hardware and software organizations, ensuring quality deliverables while adhering to aggressive schedules.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Control Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Hands-on development experience with C/C++ on 32-bit embedded microprocessors
  • Experience with real-time operating systems
  • Experience with compilers & debuggers
  • Knowledge of unit testing strategies to ensure appropriate test coverage
  • Inquisitive nature, can-do attitude, and a desire to learn
  • Natural problem solver
  • Good communicator - communicates technical aspects within the team as well as more general discussions with a wider audience
  • Functional Safety Development Experience
  • Experience with designing PID controllers, anti-aliasing, and decimation filters in software
  • Matlab and Simulink development experience

About Our Division

The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning, control, and automation products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GNSS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics.
