Job Details

We are seeking an experienced ACH / Payments Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as a Product Owner for an enterprise-wide payments conversion initiative. The ideal candidate will have deep ACH domain expertise, strong business and product understanding, and proven experience in requirements definition, gap analysis, and payment platform conversions.

This role is not production support oriented. The focus is on product ownership, functional leadership, and business alignment to ensure seamless payment platform transitions with minimal business disruption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Product Owner for ACH and payments-related products, defining product vision, roadmap, and priorities.

  • Act as the ACH SME across cross-functional teams during payment platform conversions and integrations.

  • Lead payment conversion and migration initiatives for ACH, wire, and Real-Time Payments (RTP).

  • Identify operational and functional gaps between current systems and business needs.

  • Gather, document, and prioritize business and functional requirements for ACH and payments capabilities.

  • Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications and user stories.

  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and banking partners to design, test, and deploy payment solutions.

  • Ensure NACHA compliance and adherence to regulatory standards across all payment rails.

  • Manage ACH file formats including PPD, CCD, and CTX, including mappings, validations, and exceptions.

  • Oversee UAT, validation, and cutover activities, ensuring business readiness.

  • Track and communicate project timelines, risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.

  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, control, compliance, and customer experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Business, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in ACH and electronic payments, including ACH, wire, and RTP.

  • Strong ACH product knowledge and business understanding (not production support focused).

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Payments SME, Business Analyst, or Functional Lead on large-scale payment conversions.

  • In-depth knowledge of ACH payment lifecycle, NACHA rules, returns, reversals, and NOCs.

  • Experience performing requirements gathering, gap analysis, and functional design.

  • Strong understanding of payment system architectures and banking operations.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
