SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER (DYNAMICS)

The Starship Dynamics team is responsible for all dynamic and vibration analyses on SpaceX's Starship vehicle. The group is focused on supporting structural design, analysis, and verification of the Starship booster and ship. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining software to make dynamics analyses more efficient and implementing automation to directly impact vehicle development. The software tools that you write will interface with a wide range of analyses including structural dynamics, flight data processing and review, model and analysis correlation, trajectory design, and engine dynamics. In this role, you are expected to have solid software and analytical skills, in addition to familiarity with and a desire to learn about dynamic systems and a broad range of engineering disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement tools for dynamics analysis for the Starship vehicle
  • Create and maintain a cutting-edge software platform to reliably execute and manage large processing tasks
  • Build highly robust software that is scalable for many analysis teams
  • Work with analysis groups to automate processes to support quick development iteration
  • Provide software support for test and launch operations

BASIC QUALIFICIATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or other engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of development experience with Python, Javascript, and/or SQL (internships and school projects experience qualify)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Background in physics or engineering-based simulation
  • Knowledge of dynamics and aerospace environments
  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Demonstrated ability to own projects, critically define requirements, operate both independently and collaboratively, communicate effectively, and drive a successful outcome
