Tesla Energy SCADA team is looking for a Senior Engineer with a deep knowledge of industrial networking and passion to solve challenging problems on industrial sites. As a networking champion for the Energy network, you will lead the network deployment metrics, reliability, cost, and performance. You will be responsible for successful deployment of high performing, reliable and robust networking solutions on Tesla's utility sites. As a key member of the team, you will help to shape the success of our projects in various applications worldwide. You must have a genuine passion for engineering products & systems that will fundamentally change the world's energy infrastructure and must want to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities
- Define and own metrics for successful network deployment on site; identify inefficiencies and drive improvements for faster site network deployment
- As an SME for complex networking architectures, you will collaborate with the Network Operations team, Projects team and software teams for reviewing and validating new and existing network design and features
- Validate and support the deployment of tools and processes for network self-tests, performance diagnostics and logging to streamline network deployment and operation on Energy sites
- Support the product team, supply chain team and Netops for commercialization of Tesla Energy's Networking solution for Tesla customers and certified integrators
- Create and define the support model, workflows and metrics for Tesla service team and Network operations team to effectively maintain and manage site network availability
- Stay up to date with industry and customer requirements to develop technical network solutions and framework
- Write functional requirements/specifications documents, test procedure and site commissioning and acceptance documentation for network related features modules and procedures
- Write knowledge articles and train the SCADA and project deployment team on site networking concepts to enable cross pollination and team success
- Role may require up to 25% travel
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience with switches, routers, firewalls, transceivers, media converters, physical mediums, and other communications networking systems in electrical generation projects
- Strong understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP protocols mainly layer 2 and layer 3, network traffic analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
- Hands on knowledge with network redundancy and time sync protocols such as REP, MRP, HRS, PRP, and NTP, PTP, etc.
- Working knowledge of networking architecture of large complex industrial control systems, operational technologies, and industrial cyber security standards
- Must be a strong communicator, self-motivated, and passionate about problem solving
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC-104, OPC, IEC 61850 preferred
- Strong understanding of Virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, MS Hyper-V, etc. is preferred
- Working knowledge of monitoring and control requirements of electrical utility customers and OEMs preferred
- Working knowledge of programming languages like Python, Golang, C/C++,and automation framework experience is preferred

$164,480 - $292,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
