Job Summary
This is a full-time, on-site position that is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to stakeholders with computer, hardware, and software issues at the Eccles Broadcast Center on the University of Utah Campus. The ideal candidate will also help support Windows and Linux Server's as well as Cisco switches. The IT Specialist will be expected to act in a professional and courteous manner while handling help desk support issues that could be in-person, over the phone, through email or other written means, and remote support tools. The individual should have a solid understanding and a history of supporting Windows 10/11, MacOS, Active Directory, and network printing. Other beneficial skills would be: Microsoft Server OS, Ubuntu/Linux, Cisco networking, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, File sharing and permissions, scripting, and security cameras.
Responsibilities
Provide first response contact and problem resolution for incoming support requests.
Install desktop software and hardware.
Troubleshoot and solve user computer issues.
Work with others in the department to accomplish team goals and projects.
Maintain/Create department documentation and support guides.
Provide accurate and timely ticketing of support cases and resolutions.
Act as a liaison between EBC personnel, EBC IT support, and UofU campus IT support.
Support and maintain security video cameras, camera server, and clients.
Assist in maintaining various Windows servers.
Take an active role in managing the Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) system.
Utilize ticketing system to document work performed.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalency or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within areas of specialty.
Preferences
Excellent customer support skills and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Strong and professional communication skills with the ability to work very closely, openly, and effectively within a team.
Understanding of Active Directory and a knowledge of GPO's.
Knowledge of PowerShell and/or Python scripting.
Strong understanding of Windows desktop and MacOS.
Knowledge of Windows/Linux Server OS, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VLANs.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, o365, Box, and Google Workspace.
File sharing and file permissions.
Organization and time management skills and the ability to work autonomously while juggling many tasks simultaneously.
Strong problem solving and analysis skills to analyze support interconnections and to learn new skills quickly.
Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, and performing repetitive desk work tasks.
Experience with Jira and other Atlassian products.
Experience with FileWave or other UEM systems.
