Role: SAP ABAP Techno Functional Consultant (US Payroll) Location: The woodlands, TX ( Remote ) Duration: Long Term Contract Experience: 10 15 Years
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior ABAP Technical Consultant with strong expertise in SAP HCM US Payroll. The consultant will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting custom ABAP solutions, payroll interfaces, and enhancements aligned with US Payroll compliance and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. ABAP Development (HCM / US Payroll Focus)
  • Design and develop custom ABAP programs, enhancements (BAdIs, User Exits), Reports, Forms (SmartForms/Adobe Forms).
  • Develop and maintain Payroll Schemas, Rules, Wage Type-related logic, and payroll calculation components through ABAP.
  • Build and enhance payroll-related objects such as PCP0, RPCALCX0, RPU** reports.**
2. US Payroll Technical Expertise
  • Work with functional teams on schemas, PCRs, taxes, garnishments, benefits integration, and off-cycle payroll.
  • Support US federal and state tax rules, tax updates, and SAP HRSP implementation from a technical perspective.
  • Troubleshoot complex payroll issues using debugging, breakpoints, and payroll logs.
3. Integrations & Interfaces
  • Build and support interfaces with third-party vendors (ADP, Benefits providers, Time vendors, Financial systems).
  • Expertise in IDocs, BAPIs, BDC, LSMW, RFCs, and custom integration frameworks.
  • Experience with Payroll Posting to FI, bank files, and GL interfaces.
4. System Enhancements & Support
  • Work with cross-functional teams on EC ECP HCM integration (if applicable).
  • Provide support during monthly payroll cycles, audits, and tax year-end activities.
  • Develop technical specs (FDD/TDD), testing scripts, and performance-optimized code.
5. Collaboration
  • Work closely with functional consultants, payroll teams, US compliance teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship to junior ABAP resources.
Required Skills
  • 7+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience.
  • 4+ years of experience specifically in SAP US Payroll (PY-US).
  • Strong in ABAP HR:
    • PNPCE logical database
    • Payroll clusters (RG, RT, CRT, BT)
    • Time clusters (B2, B1)
    • Infotypes 0000 0999 & custom infotypes
  • Expertise in Payroll Schemas, PCRs (technical logic) and function modules.
  • Expertise in HR-ABAP debugging for payroll issues.
  • Strong knowledge of US tax processing, garnishments, benefits, off-cycle, retro payroll, TUBs & HRSPs.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with EC Payroll (ECP) integrations or SAP CPI.
  • Experience with SAP HR Renewal / SAP HCM on HANA.
  • Knowledge of SuccessFactors Employee Central.
  • SAP ABAP Certification (Nice to have).
