Mainframe COBOL Developer
Introduction:
The Mainframe COBOL Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, VSAM, and JCL. They will provide support for development and testing environments, manage L2 production support, and collaborate with business analysts to gather requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, VSAM, and JCL.
- Provide support for development and testing environments to ensure smooth application deployment.
- Manage L2 production support for mainframe applications, troubleshooting issues and providing timely resolutions.
- Utilize Broadcom tools (CA7, Endevor, etc.) for job scheduling, version control, and application management.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions that meet business needs.
- Conduct code reviews and participate in system testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Document technical specifications and maintain detailed records of system configurations and changes.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in mainframe technologies and tools.
Requirements:
You are:
- 8-12 years of experience in mainframe development and support.
- Proficiency in COBOL, DB2, VSAM, JCL, and Batch processing.
- Experience with Broadcom tools such as CA7 and Endevor is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of core acquiring/processing business domains, including client settlement, interchange settlement, clearing/funding, billing, and disputes.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
