Overview

Mako's Utilities client is seeking a Disaster Recovery Modernization Engineer / Architect to redesign and modernize its DR environment. This role will focus on transitioning legacy, manual DR processes into automated, cloud-integrated frameworks that improve reliability, speed, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and redesign existing disaster recovery architecture and processes

  • Develop cloud-based DR strategies aligned with Azure infrastructure

  • Implement automated DR runbooks, testing, and validation processes

  • Improve recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO)

  • Ensure DR solutions meet compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements

  • Partner with infrastructure, automation, and SRE teams on DR modernization

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in disaster recovery architecture and implementation

  • Experience modernizing DR using cloud and automation tools

  • Knowledge of automated runbook orchestration and DR testing

  • Experience operating in regulated or mission-critical environments

Nice to Have

  • Azure-native DR tooling experience

  • Utilities or critical infrastructure experience

  • Infrastructure automation or IaC exposure
