Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a job opportunity for a full-time Shipboard Engineering Technician (Electrical) III in Newport News, VA.

Summary: The Shipboard Electrical Engineering Technician will provide support to U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers stationed at Newport News Shipyard (NNS)

\n\n

Duties and Responsibilities:

\n\n
    \n
  • Offer subject matter expertise to shipboard personnel, assisting the CEMAT electrical habitability project team with engineering and technical support.
  • \n
  • Deliver over-the-shoulder and on-the-job (OJT) training to ship s force Sailors as needed
  • \n
  • Provide guidance on materials, maintenance, and training to ships' crews for shipboard equipment and systems on CVN aircraft carriers.
  • \n

    \n
  • Electrical troubleshooting, use of multimeters, and megohmmeters and network testers
  • \n
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems
  • \n
  • Provide maintenance and repairs of shipboard electrical equipment on U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers, including shipboard motors and motor controllers.
  • \n

Required Qualifications:

\n
    \n
  • Eight (8) years experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of naval or marine propulsion hull, mechanical, electrical or electronic systems
  • \n
  • An associate degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to two (2) years of technician experience
  • \n
\n
    \n
  • Documented electrical technical knowledge and expertise in Navy Shipboard electrical systems and equipment
  • \n
  • U.S. Navy surface ships or aircraft carriers experience required.
  • \n
\n
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or other mechanical technical data pertaining to the construction and operation of naval hull, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
\n
    \n
  • Able to work aboard ships in a shipyard environment under industrial conditions.
  • \n
  • Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include hard hats, hearing protection and safety glasses
  • \n
\n
  • Two (2) years experience in a position of team leader or supervisor of subordinate work groups is desired

All personnel assigned must have the below qualifications and they must be current or be able to obtain:

    \n
  • OSHA 7615 Shipyard Employment 10-hour training course within 30 days
  • \n
  • Respirator qualified to include a physical and fit test
  • \n
\n

ADA Notations:

\n

Requires working, walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of noise.

\n

Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways.

\n

Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight.

\n

Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud.

\n

Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
