Summary

You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT) in the HELICOPTER SEA COMBAT SQUADRON TWO (HSC-2) at NAVAL AIR STATION, NORFOLK.

Duties

Help

  • You will be responsible for the implementation and operation of the Information Assurance (IA) program throughout HSC-2.
  • You will protect Information Technology (IT) resources in accordance with Federal, DoD and DON guidelines.
  • You will disseminate IA information and ensure training is periodically conducted and all documentation is properly maintained.
  • You will maintain contingency and disaster recovery plans for the HSC-2 and update as needed.
  • You will report and document all security related events and ensure that all sensitive and classified material destruction is conducted in accordance with DoD/DON/CMS policies and procedures.
  • You will manage procedures for new, transferring or removing user accounts, and ensure that all NMCI users sign NIPRNET/SIPRNET user agreements prior to account establishment.
  • You will verify all classified network connections are protected in accordance with DoD/DON policies.
  • You will review and validate pre-invoicing for NMCI Assets and execute fiscal year rollover processes for existing NMCI orders and provide responses in a timely manner.
  • You will maintain accurate mapping of authorized software and templates to squadron NMCI seats and monitor all mapping.
  • You will serve as the point of contact on issues relating to Information Systems and Telecommunications requirements regarding HSC-2 and facilities.
  • You will gather facts about the nature of work involved in user area applications, workflow, processing actions, and work products.
  • You will manage the upkeep of the command's share portal.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 722, Level I within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Required certifications for this position are GSSF or GSLC or COMPTIA Security+

Qualifications

To qualify for the IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT), GS-2210-09, position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience planning, developing, coordinating and implementing organizational level information assurance and information security programs and strategies, e.g., the organization security training program; and formulating organizational level IT security program initiatives in response to IT security issues.
  • Experience developing plans and reviewing schedules, estimating resource requirements, defining milestones and deliverables, monitoring command activities and evaluating and reporting accomplishments.
  • Experience maintaining IT asset inventory and tracking methodologies sufficient to minimize inefficient use of IT assets within HSC-2.
  • Experience managing assigned projects and communicating orally and in writing technical requirements to non-technical personnel and preparing and presenting briefings to senior management officials on complex IT issues.
  • Experience with NMCI and Navy tools such as Information Strike Force (ISF) Tools, Department of the Navy Application Database and Management System (DADMS), Requirement to Award Process (RAP) Tool, and the Navy Enterprise Tool (NET) to input, request, maintain or move HSC-2 computer resources and data and aid all HSC-2 as required.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience.

GS-09

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
