MUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important):
Experience in the telecommunications industry
Technical knowledge of long distance, ultra-long haul and OTN mesh networks
Equipment Knowledge specific to Sonet/SDH, ULH, OTN mesh and WDM transport
Vendor Specific Knowledge: Ciena, Infinera, Fujitsu and varied long haul networks
System Knowledge: BGW , CoFEE(Canvas), Nautilus, ICON, CCP, Venue
Job requirements specific to engineering and design of ultra-long haul transport
Experience managing complex processes and driving results
Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems

JOB DUTIES:
The Transport Engineer will be responsible for management of MDE (Manufacture Discontinued Equipment) migrations, disconnects and decommissions in support of the Long Distance Zero Fill and Low Fill Device Power Down Initiative.
The engineer will work to define, plan, and engineer disconnects of transport systems without traffic, drive offload grooms of transport systems with low traffic, and coordinate steps to power down and retire in place network elements of obsolete network equipment to optimize the network utilization and reduce the high failure rate of system outages.
