LOCATION: Denver
SCHEDULE: Hybrid (1 day onsite)
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating high-quality, consistent training support products as part of the overall training life cycle for all T&D programs and initiatives. The Technical Writer will create and revise training documents, including, but not limited to, learner resources, job aids, standard operating procedures (SOP), and facilitator guides within the Training and Development team. With the required experience, the ideal candidate will understand technical content, synthesize it, and transform it into easily understandable written documents. They look for opportunities to expand and enhance training materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, write, and update engaging training materials, including manuals, job aids, online help, e-learning content, and facilitator guides.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information and ensure the accuracy of technical content.
- Create clear and concise documentation that meets the needs of various audience levels, from beginners to advanced users.
- Edit and proofread training materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and quality.
- Assist in determining the type of format that will best serve the project requirements.
- Work closely with the Training and Development team to align documentation with training objectives and strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the Training and Development team to gain insight into specific projects, timelines, and deadlines.
- Use visual aids, such as diagrams, charts, screenshots, and videos, to enhance understanding of training content.
- Maintain an organized repository of training documents and manage version control.
- Conduct user research and gather feedback from learners, peers, subject matter experts, and leaders to continually improve training materials.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and training.
- Works across all companies: Fastaff/USN, Trustaff, and other brands as needed.
- Performs additional duties as requested by management.
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a training and development environment
- High school diploma or its equivalent: Four (4) year degree in business or another related field preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Expert in U.S. English style, usage, grammar, and punctuation
- Previous knowledge/use of writing content for electronic support tools or digital help products
- Excellent writing and grammatical skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently while working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and handle service issues with integrity, skill, and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality during high-stress situations
- Ability to develop and maintain business relationships
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a geographically dispersed team
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all staff levels
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and e-learning software (e.g., Articulate)
- Proficient with image editing software, including but not limited to Snag-It
- Ability to use tact, discretion, and independent judgment to analyze and resolve work problems
- Displays a strong sense of urgency with the ability to self-motivate and remain flexible
