Do you want to drive innovations, design and implement state-of-the-art features related to the virtualization platform used in Broadcom's VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)? If so, our Virtual Devices team is looking for highly motivated and talented systems software developers to join the team's experienced OS generalists who apply their knowledge to solving a wide variety of system software level problems.
As a member of the Virtual Devices team, you will drive innovations, design, development, and maintenance of software that virtualizes devices (UEFI, USB, Networking, RDMA, Storage, TPM and many more) for virtual machines.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
In the first 6 months, you will be expected to get up to speed on the different virtual devices we support. By year 1, you would be expected to have impactful engineering contributions such as driving innovations, leading design discussions and implementing system software for VCF's virtualization platform.
The Work: What type of work you will be doing? What assignments, requirements or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
As a member of the Virtual Platform Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for driving innovations, designing, developing and maintaining the virtual platform infrastructure and software that virtualizes devices (RDMA, UEFI, USB, Networking, Storage, TPM and many more) for virtual machines.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $163,800 - 262,000.
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.

Skills & Qualifications
- BSCS with 15+ years experience in OS/kernel development. MSCS + 13 years desirable.
- Strong C programming language experience. C++ and scripting language experience desirable.
- Must have OS internals experience, e.g., system libraries, file systems, device drivers on Unix, Windows, MacOS, Linux or FreeBSD.
- Proficient with network device drivers, Windows/Linux device driver development, TCP/IP internals, socket programming and other networking protocols
- Experience with RoCE, infiniband network technology, Ethernet technologies, including switches, adapters, fabric management
- Proficient with different storage protocols
- Knowledge of algorithms (understands code efficiency and performance), understand interrupts, multi-threaded programming, and 64-bit programming issues.
- Experience in Open source contribution
- Understanding of security best practices in software development.
- Strong debugging and performance analysis skills.
