Description: About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled RAN Systems Engineer with deep expertise in 4G/5G call processing to join our wireless network team. This role is ideal for someone with strong protocol knowledge and hands-on experience in system-level performance analysis, troubleshooting, and customer-facing technical engagements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for 4G/5G RAN call processing and protocol analysis.
  • Translate customer requirements into detailed system and feature specifications for development teams.
  • Lead technical discussions with customer engineering teams across RAN development and performance domains.
  • Conduct software validation in customer networks to assess feature delivery and performance.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation including design specs, white papers, and performance reports.
  • Support cross-functional teams on various wireless projects, including KPI analysis and device log troubleshooting.
  • Drive field integration testing efforts (FFA/FIT/FSA) for key RAN features, including test planning, execution, and issue resolution.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for scheduler-related issues in lab and production environments.
  • Analyze system-level logs and performance metrics to identify and resolve network issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful feature deployment and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in wireless telecommunications, with a focus on 4G/5G RAN call processing.
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP RAN layer protocols: RRC, S1-MME, S1-U, X2.
  • Experience with Hybrid Beamforming, Massive MIMO, LTE-NR interworking, and 5G numerologies.
  • Proven ability to perform system-level performance analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with scheduler functionality and network optimization techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with 3GPP Release 15/16 features and roadmap.
  • Background in wireless service providers or vendors (e.g., T-Mobile, Ericsson).
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% if required (though unlikely).
What We're Not Looking For
  • RF-focused engineers. This role emphasizes system-level analysis, protocol troubleshooting, and performance optimization, not RF tuning.
