Job Summary:
The main function is to coordinate changes to computer databases, test, and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems.
Job Responsibilities:
Work with senior management, technical and client teams in order to determine data requirements, business data implementation approaches, best practices for advanced data manipulation, storage and analysis strategies
Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions
Design, implement, automate and maintain large scale enterprise data ETL processes
Modify existing databases and database management systems and/or direct programmers and analysts to make changes
Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications
Skills:
Experience with database technologies
Knowledge of the ETL process
Knowledge of at least one scripting language
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Demonstrated history of success
Desire to be working with data and helping businesses make better data driven decisions
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required or equivalent work experience.
6-8 years applicable experience required
Roles and Responsibilities:
Need individuals to come in and do in depth analysis, write requirements, code solutions, work with partners to put prototypes into production.
Position will be working on a team that support one or multiple data domain(s) of the Retail Business and driving the data needs of the domain(s), through partnership with technology to gather requirements, drive solutions, architect/ design/ develop nimble data solutions, and implement business rules into production. The position will require both technical and non-technical skills sets, working with agile projects, partnering with business partners to make informed decisions, writing/ developing code and business logic, documenting data assets, issue resolutions, and completing ad hoc requests. Advanced organization, time management, critical thinking, communication, and technical skill will be required to navigate small and large scale initiatives to support the data domain.
**Please note that the manager DOES NOT want data engineers**
Technical Skills:
Business acumen with Technical skill set
Experience with programming on Hadoop, Teradata, and/or Oracle platforms in SQL, Spark, and Python.
Experience working with relational databases, big data, unstructured data files, and understanding data warehouse/ ETL concepts.
Experience with Oozie, Slurm, Iceberg, or similar automation tools.
Intermediate Excel skills.
Experience in data visualization tools like Tableau, Elastic Stack, and Power BI.
Ability to create process flows.
Experience with business analytics.
Experience developing and maintenance of documentation both technical and process/procedural.
Flex Skills:
Good working understanding on Agile framework, Jira, Confluence, and Git repositories.
Knowledge of retail lending (know what loans, deposits, etc.)
Soft Skills:
Ability to conduct in depth technical discussions with both technology partners as well as be able to convey technical concepts and approaches to business stakeholders.
Degrees/Certifications: Bachelor's Degree
