Conversational AI Engineer

A top Fortune 50 financial services company is seeking a highly motivated Conversational AI Engineer to work a hybrid work schedule at one of the following locations: Vienna, VA; Winchester, VA; Pensacola, FL; San Diego, CA. This individual will support the development and optimization of AI-powered chatbots and voice assistants, with a focus on post-transcriptional conversational processing using Azure Cognitive Services CLU.

About the Opportunity:
Hybrid or Remote: Hybrid must be able to report to one of the listed campus locations
Setting: Large enterprise / financial services environment
Team Focus: Conversational AI, Natural Language Understanding (NLU)
Voice Pipeline Note: This role is responsible for post-transcription model tuning; voice-to-text is handled by a separate team
Collaboration: Cross-functional team environment involving data scientists, engineers, and analysts

Responsibilities:
The Conversational AI Engineer will be responsible for:

Designing and fine-tuning Conversational Language Understanding (CLU) models using Azure Language Studio
Training intents, entities, and utterances to improve chatbot and voice assistant accuracy
Implementing context handling for multi-turn conversations
Analyzing logs and transcripts from voice interactions to continuously improve model accuracy
Conducting unit, regression, and A/B testing to validate and enhance chatbot performance

Qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Conversational AI
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
    Experience with Azure Cognitive Services CLU and Azure Language Studio
    Strong knowledge of NLU principles, including intent classification and entity extraction
    Proven ability to analyze interaction data to optimize conversational models
    Experience working with or around IVR and voice-interaction platforms
    Excellent collaboration and communication skills
    Detail-oriented and analytical approach to problem-solving

Desired Skills:
5+ years of experience in AI/ML or voice assistant development (preferred)
Master s degree in a related field
Experience with Azure Bot Framework
Familiarity with speech-to-text (STT) and text-to-speech (TTS) services
Awareness of ethical AI practices and compliance standards
