Aloha! One of Hawaii's largest and oldest banks is seeking a Desktop Engineer!
Description
Senior Desktop Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of the computer systems. This role is responsible for maintaining the computing environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades, monitoring system performance and participating in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of the organization.
Technical desktop support
a. Coordinates and manages the design, construction, deployment and maintenance of the bank's computer operating system images, virtual desktops, and other application delivery platforms.
b. Actively provides third line support for incidents and problems, responding to user queries and data requests efficiently.
c. Analyzes incidents and problem tickets. Identifies root causes and providing solutions for system issues.
d. Analyzes existing workloads and implementing automations where possible.
e. Manages endpoint platform technologies lifecycles, support, and administration activities through Active Directory, GPO's and Microsoft SCCM.
f. Serves as primary technical contact and platform owner for Infrastructure endpoints.
g. Responsible for working with IT Managers to ensure timely and accurate resolutions of incident, problems and requests.
h. Establishes desktop support metrics and reports for continuous improvement.
i. Develops a strategic plan for enterprise client support based on IT best practice assessment and industry trends.
j. Manages license management for application owned within the department.
k. Writes, maintains, and reviews technical documentation on work products
l. Participates in on-call rotation, 247 for a week per rotation
Provides consultancy services to business units as it relates to current or potential technologies. Counsels business units on best-practice approaches.
o Provides technical guidance on questions, evaluation, selection, and use of desktop-based solutions
o Processes service requests for hardware or software
o Recommends and implements solutions for recurring production issues.
o Creates deployment plans and operating procedures to support technical solution delivery.
o Develops, coordinates, and executes test plans for system, regression, and validation testing.
m. Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to the teams, as it relates to new project designs, solutions, and technologies implemented.
o Trains and coaches junior and senior team members by regularly reviewing and explaining new architecture and design to ensure their understanding of the design as it evolves and changes; seeks teams' input and knowledge of operational constraints and issues as an input to overall desktop infrastructure design
o Serves as project lead or manager on medium to large size projects that involve infrastructure systems/applications as needed.
o Assists management with researching and sourcing vendors in addition to managing existing vendor relationships
o Participates in contractual reviews and recommends appropriate changes based on Bank IT standards and requirements.
o Leads and coordinates meetings with team as needed to ensure Service Level Agreements ("SLAs") are met, and systems are healthy and secure.
o Fosters a positive, learning, and collaborative team environment. Proactively mentors and cross-trains teammates to promote knowledge transfer and to ensure adequate coverage.
n. Defines target architecture strategy and roadmaps to successfully identify, and implement banking solutions, including managing of end-of-life hardware, software in the end user support and desktop areas.
o Works with appropriate stakeholders to analyze and review business, technical, architectural, functional, and implementation requirements for delivery of technical solutions.
o Creates high-level and low-level design documents, system diagrams based on requirements.
o Leads architecture reviews for enterprise solutions to ensure that overall solution design aligns with infrastructure and cyber security standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-The soft skills and able to lead a project & meetings, collaborating with Server, Network, Cyber and other business units. Communication and written skills will need to be good, breakings things down from IT tech talk to English for non technical users. Right now this is my role, to facilitate, communicate and to call out any red flags. Senior desktop engineer will take on that responsibility.
Proficient in setup and use of Microsoft Office and Windows operating system.
Must be able to work outside normal business hours and on weekends and holidays.
Must be able to travel independently to all FHB locations, including inter-island, California, Guam, and Saipan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
