Position Overview:
Apex Systems is seeking a skilled Storage Administrator to support a dynamic and mission-critical enterprise IT environment at ALTESS in Radford, VA. This role involves managing a hybrid storage infrastructure, including network-attached storage (NAS), fiber channel (FC) storage, and FC switches. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive mindset, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for delivering reliable storage solutions in a secure, high-availability environment.

Position Overview:
Apex Systems is seeking a skilled Storage Administrator to support a dynamic and mission-critical enterprise IT environment at ALTESS in Radford, VA. This role involves managing a hybrid storage infrastructure, including network-attached storage (NAS), fiber channel (FC) storage, and FC switches. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive mindset, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for delivering reliable storage solutions in a secure, high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise storage systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Monitor storage infrastructure, analyze utilization trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Troubleshoot performance issues across FC networks and NAS environments, applying both immediate and long-term solutions.
- Perform data refreshes between environments based on customer requests.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and documentation to support repeatable, standardized processes.
- Contribute to the creation and enforcement of storage standards and policies.
- Adhere to ITIL-based Change Management practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise-level Storage Administration.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with NAS and FC storage systems.
- Proficiency with Linux and Windows Server 2019/2022 (installation, configuration, troubleshooting).
- Scripting experience (PowerShell 2.0+, Bash, or similar).
- Strong command-line interface (CLI) skills.
- Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and respond to mission-critical events.
- Ability to perform onsite physical tasks and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with DoD STIGs, SRR scripts, and IAVM compliance.
- Experience with storage protocols including FC, CIFS, NFS, and iSCSI.
- Knowledge of block-based replication technologies.
Soft Skills:
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to the ALTESS storage environment.
