Storage and Virtualization Engineer
Our client, a large public sector organization, is seeking a Storage and Virtualization Engineer for a 12-month contract role. The consultant will lead and support enterprise-level infrastructure projects with a focus on storage, virtualization (VMware SDDC), and hyper-converged systems.
Job Description
The Storage and Virtualization Engineer is responsible for the design, development, configuration, optimization, and maintenance of server, storage, and virtualization environments. This role also includes project management responsibilities and the development of architectural documentation and automation solutions aligned with enterprise IT strategies.
Responsibilities
Lead, configure, maintain, and optimize storage, hyper-converged, and server hardware and VMware SDDC software
Recommend hardware/server requirements and build application environments
Plan, oversee, and document infrastructure projects to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines
Provide senior-level architectural solutions and automation strategies for virtualization implementations
Ensure application, component, and service conformance with established architecture standards
Perform solution assessments and design complex, multi-phased migration projects
Develop and maintain architectural diagrams covering enterprise, business, data, security, and/or technology domains
Implement, provision, and troubleshoot storage, server, and virtualization infrastructure
Manage performance metrics and capacity projections
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in Hyper-Converged compute environments and multi-tiered storage architectures
8+ years of experience with enterprise storage solutions such as Dell EMC VPLEX, VxRail, VxRack, vSAN, ScaleIO, Pure Storage, Rubrik
8+ years of hands-on experience configuring and designing VMware SDDC software stack
8+ years of experience with PowerShell, Azure ARM templates, and Azure CLI
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience in education industry projects
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
Proven ability to work across heterogeneous systems and platforms
Exposure to Cisco ACI and other application provisioning and hosting technologies
Work Location & Schedule
Hybrid schedule (specific on-site expectations to be confirmed)
12-month contract
