Job Title: Configuration Management Specialist
General Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in the IBM Rational Suite of Tools-particularly ClearQuest and ClearCase-and experienced in software and application build/deployment processes. This role requires the ability to manage multiple assignments independently while collaborating effectively with program team members. A strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Configuration Management (CM) principles is essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also required to foster positive interactions with both internal teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities

• Administer IBM Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest tools across environments, including applying fix packs and upgrades.
• Customize and enhance ClearCase and ClearQuest using Visual Basic, VBScript, Perl, and SQL.
• Execute on-demand builds and deployments for J2EE and .NET applications in accordance with CM procedures.
• Conduct Configuration Management quality assurance (QA) of artifacts.
• Maintain integrity and control of all application development and program artifacts.
• Identify configuration items, audit changes, and manage configurations throughout the SDLC.
• Act as a liaison between project teams to facilitate defect identification and resolution.
• Ensure proper versioning and change control of configuration items.
• Develop and maintain CM procedures and documentation.
• Provide support to the Customer Service Center as needed.
• Be available for scheduled late-shift coverage as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Required Technical Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience administering IBM Rational tools, including installation, upgrades, and configuration of ClearQuest and ClearCase (preferably version 9.x+).
• Proven experience scripting builds and developing ClearQuest schemas.
• Expertise in ClearCase VOB administration and ClearQuest customization using Visual Basic, SQL, and/or Perl.
• Experience working with SQL Server, DB2, and IBM Data Studio.
• Proficiency in installing and configuring Rational Application Developer (RAD 9.x+) or Eclipse and Visual Studio (201x+).
• Strong understanding of software builds and deployments for J2EE and .NET applications.
• Experience deploying software in WebSphere and SharePoint environments.
• Proficiency in writing and debugging build scripts using ANT, MSBuild, and PowerShell.
• Familiarity with virtual environments such as VMware, AWS, and Azure.
• Experience integrating IBM Rational tools with other IBM software products.
• Support experience in both Windows and Linux environments.
• Familiarity with tools such as MAVEN, MS Excel, MS Project, SQL, Visio, and TechSmith SnagIt.
• Scripting experience in Perl, PowerShell, and VBScript for ClearQuest/ClearCase support.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps methodologies and build processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform QA/validation during build and deployment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working within a CMMI-compliant software development framework.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or
• Master's degree (or equivalent product certification) with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
