Job Title: RF Engineer Small Cell/DAS
Location: Mahwah, NJ / Melville, NY (Hybrid: WFH Mon/Fri, Office Tue-Thu)
Travel: Local field visits within the NY Metro area (approx. once per week)
Schedule: Hybrid (2 days WFH, 3 days onsite)
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced RF Engineer to support the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Small Cell Networks (SCN).
This role will partner with the RF Engineering team to drive the small cell sales process, manage project execution, and ensure ongoing network performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design DAS and small cell network solutions, including RF plans and proposals.
- Support sales workflows by preparing technical documentation and customer deliverables.
- Conduct site selection, CW tests, RF data analysis, and prepare system designs.
- Configure, test, optimize, and commission DAS/Small Cell deployments.
- Support the NOC and field teams in troubleshooting network performance issues and new technology trials.
- Perform RF and fiber testing, analysis, and reporting.
- Provide detailed drive testing (CW, benchmark, optimization) and post-processing analysis.
- Collaborate with customers to review system design, performance optimization, and recommend enhancements.
- Utilize RF planning tools, empirical data, and predictive modeling for network design validation.
- Operate and interpret test equipment including spectrum analyzers, scanners, and fiber testers.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) required; Master s (MSEE) preferred.
Experience:
- 2 4 years of RF engineering experience with a focus on DAS and small cell systems.
- Working knowledge of 2G, 3G, 4G wireless technologies.
- Familiarity with small cell architecture, prediction tools, and MapInfo.
- Proficient in MS Excel (mid to advanced level).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of radio wave propagation, antenna theory, and optical transmission principles.
- Ability to create link budgets, calculate noise figures, and analyze intermodulation products.
- Skilled in using RF test equipment and post-processing software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
