Purpose of the Job
The Learning & Development Business Partner plays a critical role in driving employee growth and organizational capability across the Credit Union. As a strategic Learning and Development (L&D) partner, you will collaborate with leaders across multiple departments to diagnose performance gaps, design innovative solutions, and shape the long-term learning roadmap for the organization.
The Learning & Development Partner works at a strategic level by partnering with business leaders, including the VP of Collections and cross-functional stakeholders, to align learning with long-term business priorities, manage vendor relationships (as assigned), and ensure that training programs directly support organizational performance goals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Delivers engaging in-classroom and hybrid learning experiences focused on soft skills, conflict resolution, handling difficult conversations, and learner engagement.
- Collaborates with Learning Business Partners, Collections leadership, Business Partners, Quality Assurance, and Instructional Designers to ensure classroom design addresses root performance gaps rather than symptoms.
- Stays current with Collection's business processes by spending time in the department to understand frontline roles, business challenges, and opportunities to elevate learning, ensuring efficient, practical, and effective solutions.
- Co-designs and adapts learning content to align with business needs, collection metrics, and adult learning principles.
- Incorporates innovative learning technologies (AI-driven simulations, gamification tools, live polling platforms, etc.) to enhance engagement and skill application.
- Acts as a coach/mentor, reinforcing skill development beyond the classroom.
- Delivers training on critical collections skills, including overcoming objections, negotiation, and recommending solutions, as well as foundational Artificial Intelligence literacy, focusing on its impact on both the member and employee experience.
- Collects and analyzes learner feedback, performance data, and QA insights to refine future training.
- Stays current with emerging learning methodologies and technologies, integrating them into program delivery.
- Works with leadership to define measures of success (12-24 months) that evaluate the role's impact and training efficacy.

- Facilitates ancillary classes as needed.
- Vendor ownership responsibilities (as directed by managers or above) may be assigned, including research, selection, negotiation, and oversight.

- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Serves as a strategic partner to multiple business units, identifying and prioritizing individual, team, and organizational development needs.
- Influences stakeholders at all levels to build consensus and gain buy-in for initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Partners with leaders to shape a long-term learning roadmap, ensuring L&D efforts evolve with business priorities.
- Provides expertise in adult learning, organizational effectiveness, and change management to improve the adoption and sustainability of development programs.
- Conducts enterprise-wide needs analyses using performance data, stakeholder interviews, and workforce planning insights to identify skill gaps.
- Designs scalable learning solutions that address both immediate needs (e.g., onboarding, compliance) and long-term development (e.g., leadership, technical skills).
- Ensures solutions incorporate emerging trends, including Artificial Intelligence literacy and its application to member and employee experiences.
- Manages the end-to-end lifecycle of enterprise-wide learning initiatives, from planning and development to implementation and evaluation.
- Facilitates high-impact training sessions and leadership development workshops when needed.
- Develops and implements evaluation plans (e.g., Kirkpatrick Model, performance metrics) to measure both short-term effectiveness and 12 - 24-month organizational impact.
- Provides reporting and insights to senior leaders to demonstrate ROI and recommend strategic adjustments.
- Partners with operational leaders (e.g., Collections) to define the distinct measures of success for both Facilitator-led training and Consultant-driven strategy.
- Continuously scans the market for emerging learning technologies, methodologies, and innovations that could enhance organizational capability.
- Must have the ability to align L&D strategies with business performance and future workforce needs.
- Must be able to build trust, manage stakeholder expectations, and influence outcomes across departments.
- Must have skills in creating multi-year L&D strategies that incorporate new technologies (e.g., AI) and organizational goals.
- Must have the ability to oversee external partnerships to supplement internal resources.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple, complex, cross-functional initiatives simultaneously.
- Must have strong skills in using data and metrics to demonstrate both program effectiveness and long-term organizational impact.
- Must be flexible and proactive in responding to shifting business priorities.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time to conduct training sessions
- Occasional walking, bending, and stooping required
- Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
- Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
Education and Background
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field required, Master's preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in L&D, Organizational Development, or HR roles with a consulting focus required.
- Strong experience in needs analysis, solution design, and program management required.
- Experience developing long-term learning strategies and measurable outcomes (12-24 months) required.
- Familiarity with instructional technologies and AI-enabled learning solutions required.
- Program/process design experience (e.g., Six Sigma) is a plus.
