RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Carson City, NV that is seeking a Senior Project Engineer.
Summary:
The Senior Project Engineer partners closely with the Construction Manager and Superintendents to support successful project execution from preconstruction through startup and production. This role collaborates with teams across project management, infrastructure engineering, project controls, and procurement to ensure assigned construction scopes are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with project requirements. The Project Engineer maintains full ownership of their assigned scopes, overseeing daily field operations, contractor coordination, documentation, and performance tracking.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead daily coordination with subcontractors and field crews to review production schedules and confirm that labor, materials, equipment, and resources are in place to maintain schedule and budget targets
* Gather, review, and manage shop drawings, specifications, material requirements, and project documentation to ensure all work aligns with contract and quality standards
* Provide technical input to work plans and schedules, identifying potential risks related to production, equipment, materials, or processes that could impact cost or timeline
* Track daily production progress, schedule performance, and budget status; document all field activities using company-approved systems and tools
* Communicate significant schedule impacts to project leadership and recommend corrective action strategies
* Manage assigned scopes including RFIs, submittals, procurement activities, and schedule updates
* Submit accurate project quantities and manage cost coding to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services
* Perform quality assurance reviews throughout the project lifecycle and coordinate inspections, certifications, and closeout documentation
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline required
* 5+ years of experience in construction engineering, scheduling, or design
* Working knowledge of cost coding, budgeting, cost control, and project financial tracking
* Proficiency with construction scheduling processes and industry best practices
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive working relationships across diverse teams
* Solid understanding of construction methods, equipment, drawings, specifications, materials, and applicable standards
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Highly motivated self-starter with a desire to continuously learn and grow
* Experience in construction production planning and time management preferred
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
