Job Details

Candidates must have good relationship or working experience with Michigan State/Local government agencies.

We are looking for a strategic and experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) with a minimum of 10 years in the IT industry and a strong background in working with Michigan state and local government agencies. This role involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and building long-term relationships with clients across the state.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a growth strategy focused on Michigan state and local government (SLED) agencies.
  • Identify and pursue IT service opportunities in areas such as cloud computing, digital transformation, data analytics, cybersecurity, custom application development, and managed services.
  • Build relationships with procurement officers, agency CIOs, IT directors, and other key decision-makers within Michigan government.
  • Monitor and engage with Michigan s bid portals, cooperative purchasing contracts, and local procurement channels.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to craft tailored solutions that meet specific government requirements.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, report sales metrics, and forecast revenue growth accurately.
  • Stay updated with Michigan state IT initiatives, policies, and procurement regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT sales/business development, preferably with a strong public sector focus.
  • Proven experience in selling to Michigan state and/or local government agencies.
  • Deep knowledge of SLED procurement processes, bidding cycles, and contract vehicles in Michigan.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Existing network of contacts within Michigan government (e.g., DTMB, counties, municipalities, public schools).
