Position Summary
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for sustaining, expanding, and implementing automation solutions that advance our manufacturing processes.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams consisting of manufacturing team members, engineering, operations, and quality to develop solutions that improve operational performance and aid our production team members in day-to-day manufacturing processes.
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 7 years of automation experience, a strong background in control systems, mechanical design, communication skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Promoting a Safety-First workplace, encouraging the identification and closure of opportunities for safety improvements.
- Sustain and expand systems for NVH manufacturing processes to improve safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations team members to define automation requirements and specifications for new and existing products and processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Create and maintain documentation for automation processes, including standard operating procedures and user manuals.
- Stay up to date with advancements in automation technologies and NVH manufacturing methodologies.
- Provide training and support to team members on automation systems and best practices.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for automation across the division.
- Embrace LEAN manufacturing principles, participate in LEAN events (Kaizen, Value Streams Mapping, etc.) and focus on continuous improvement.
- Maintain a continuous improvement (LEAN) mindset to achieve Zero Defects through product and process robustness.
- Successfully manage and sustain various automation equipment simultaneously.
- Drive and embrace collaboration and partnership with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing and Product design team members.
Mandatory Requirements:
- This position requires a bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with 3-7 years of experience, or and equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of control systems, PLC programming, and HMI design.
- Proficiency in programming languages to support equipment and robotics.
- Proficient with CAD software and simulation tools.
- Experience and understanding of fundamental manufacturing methods.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact and contribute in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Willing to travel up to 10% of the time, within Continental US.
- Knowledge of Parker Lord manufacturing processes (i.e., Elastomer Processes, Bonding Processes, Assembly, etc.).
- Product design knowledge and experience.
- Master's Degree in an engineering discipline or similar.
