Description
SAIC is seeking a Space Protection Mission Engineer to join the Space and Intelligence Business Group providing systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The customer is developing the next generation of space and ground systems, architectures, and hardware and software solutions.
The Space Protection Mission Engineer will provide subject matter expertise to support System Program Office (SPO) coordination with the development contractor and other stakeholders (including end user operators) for deployment of new protection capabilities into space operations. The Space Protection Mission Engineer collaborates within a team of mission-related Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to manage system development, requirements verification testing (and sell-off), user and stakeholder engagement, and transition of operations activities.

Description

The Space Protection Mission Engineer will provide subject matter expertise to support System Program Office (SPO) coordination with the development contractor and other stakeholders (including end user operators) for deployment of new protection capabilities into space operations. The Space Protection Mission Engineer collaborates within a team of mission-related Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to manage system development, requirements verification testing (and sell-off), user and stakeholder engagement, and transition of operations activities.
The Space Protection Mission Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Technical expert providing oversight for software development, implementation, deployment, and operation of ground processing systems providing space protection capabilities.
- Supports coordination with other SPOs and stakeholders to develop a common space protection concept of operations that includes the capabilities and interfaces required by space operators to safeguard space assets and advance the nation's space resiliency posture.
- Collaborates with other SMEs to develop technical plans and documentation, advise the customer on technical progress of the acquisition, and support the integration of ground processing systems with space systems.
- Supports Contracting Officer Technical Representative(s) and developers to refine requirements, designs, and testing capabilities to meet user needs.
- Supports demonstrations of software applications for use in training/exercises and coordinates with operators to elicit user interface/experience (UI/UX) preferences in support of software development activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's Degree with 3 years of relevant experience; or PhD. Additional experience is a plus.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly.
- Familiarity with a space or ground software system.
- Familiarity with space mission operations.
- Familiarity with developing, testing, or fielding space systems.
- Understanding of (and ability to apply) astrodynamics and engineering fundamentals.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in space domain awareness systems, activities, or operations.
- Experience in Space Protection mission area.
- Experience within the IC, preferably the NRO.
- Familiarity with optical or radar Space Object Surveillance and Identification (SOSI).
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies to include participation in scrums, development of solution epics/features, and continuous integration/continuous deployment.
- Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA.
