Job Description:
The State of Texas is seeking a Lead Data Architect to provide technical leadership in the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-level data management systems. The role involves strategic planning, data modeling, performance tuning, and database implementation using Oracle Cloud, Salesforce CRM, and ETL tools like ADF and Informatica. This is a hybrid position, requiring 3 days onsite at the Austin, TX office.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and architecture of complex databases.
Evaluate user data requests and integrate new data elements into existing environments.
Create and maintain logical and physical data models, ERDs, and data dictionaries.
Implement data architecture solutions on Oracle Cloud RDBMS and Salesforce CRM.
Use data modeling tools like Tableau, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Informatica.
Develop PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, and database triggers.
Write detailed source-to-target mappings to support ETL development.
Monitor database performance and perform tuning and optimization tasks.
Ensure database interfaces meet EIR Accessibility standards.
Support reporting systems, including dashboard creation in Tableau.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective data management solutions.
Assist with disaster recovery, database recovery, and security processes.
Minimum Requirements:
17+ years of overall IT experience with a strong focus on database architecture.
Extensive experience in Oracle RDBMS, Salesforce CRM, PL/SQL, ETL tools (ADF/Informatica).
Strong knowledge of ETL design, development, and implementation.
Experience in Tableau dashboard creation and data visualization.
Ability to lead and deliver complex technical database initiatives independently.
Familiarity with EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders and technical teams.
Ability to work under limited supervision with considerable latitude for initiative.
Preferred Skills/Certifications:
Certification in Azure Data Factory (ADF) and/or Informatica.
Experience with PERL scripting is a plus.
Prior experience working in government or public sector environments is a plus (not required).
