Job Description - FileMaker Migration Specialist

Introduction

The Agency seeks an experienced FileMaker professional to support the modernization of its database infrastructure by migrating from FileMaker Server v13 (on-premise) to FileMaker Cloud. This project will be executed in three phases: recovering administrator-level access to the existing FileMaker Server, replicating the database schema in FileMaker Cloud, and migrating/validating the data.

Background

The Agency s current on-premise database contains approximately 7,300 records with 45 fields (text, number, date, calculation, and summary fields, with no container fields). The Agency has an active subscription to FileMaker Cloud and requires expert support to ensure a secure, accurate, and fully functional migration.

Scope of Work

Phase 1: Recover Admin Access & Backup

  • Recover administrative-level access to FileMaker Server v13.

  • Establish new admin-level user credentials for the Agency.

  • Create two verified backups of the existing FileMaker database.

Phase 2: Create Cloud Database

  • Build a new unpopulated FileMaker Cloud database mirroring the schema and functionality of the on-premise database.

Phase 3: Data Migration & Validation

  • Upload a copy of the on-premise FileMaker database to the new FileMaker Cloud instance.

  • Conduct verification checks to ensure data integrity and functionality, including:

    • Confirming all records successfully transferred.

    • Validating field-level functionality.

    • Testing at least 350 nonsequential records against the original on-premise data.

  • Provide a certification report confirming successful migration and accuracy.

Deliverables

  1. FileMaker Server admin-level credentials.

  2. Two backup copies of the on-premise database.

  3. A FileMaker Cloud database identical in structure to the existing database.

  4. A fully populated and functional FileMaker Cloud database.

  5. Certifications of data accuracy, functionality, and successful record migration.

  6. A migration verification report.

Candidate Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with FileMaker Server and FileMaker Cloud.

  • Proven expertise in recovering access credentials for FileMaker Server.

  • Demonstrated experience migrating on-premise FileMaker databases to FileMaker Cloud, including schema replication and data validation.

  • Strong ability to troubleshoot, remediate pre-migration issues, and ensure data accuracy.
