RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Remote Principal Cloud Operations Engineer in Santa Barbara, CA.
Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Remote Principal Cloud Operations Engineer to play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability, security, consistency, manageability, and cost efficiency of our cloud-based products. This is an exciting opportunity to be a catalyst for modernization, specifically driving our evolution towards cloud-native solutions and away from traditional on-prem patterns adapted to the cloud. In this role, you will be instrumental in guiding our infrastructure's transformation, leveraging your deep understanding of migrating workloads from virtualized environments on Azure and AWS (specifically EC2/VMware-like setups) to containerized platforms.
Responsibilities will include:
* Championing Cloud-Native Transformation: Actively advocate for and implement containerization (ideally Kubernetes), serverless technologies, and other cloud-native approaches to optimize performance, scalability, and cost, moving away from legacy EC2-based deployments
* Optimizing Cloud Spend: Possess a strong understanding of cloud cost optimization strategies and proactively implement measures to ensure efficient resource utilization across our multi-tenant, auto-scaling deployments
* Ensuring Robust Security: Utilize industry best practices to maintain and enhance the security posture of our enterprise data, with a strong focus on container security, application security, and network segregation within a cloud environment
REQUIREMENTS:
* Experience collaborating with development and operations team architects and business teams to define project requirements and security specifications early in the project lifecycle
* Ideally, hands-on experience with security monitoring tools
* Experience with software development processes in a multi-developer environment (requirements, demos, Git, Jira, estimation and planning, build, test automation, CI/CD, etc.)
* Experience troubleshooting and debugging production issues in a 24/7 uptime environment
* Experience 1 implementing Terraform, and writing Terraform modules
* Knowledge of operations toolchains like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc., and a general understanding of Infrastructure as Code
* General understanding of the security principles of cloud-based products (penetration testing, attack surfaces, threat modeling, vulnerability management, incident response)
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
