IT Infrastructure Project Manager | Hybrid | Normal, IL

Employment Type: Contract
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)


Summary

The IT Infrastructure Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of critical IT infrastructure programs supporting factory build-outs and enterprise IT needs. This role requires deep experience in manufacturing environments, data center and facility-related infrastructure, cloud technologies, and cross-functional program leadership. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between technical teams, facilities, contractors, and senior leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and without impact to business continuity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of infrastructure programs supporting manufacturing facilities and enterprise IT

  • Define program charters, scope, roles, milestones, budgets, and success metrics

  • Develop detailed execution plans aligned with production schedules and deployment windows

  • Apply disciplined project management methodologies to manage scope, cost, schedule, and risk


Infrastructure & Technical Delivery

  • Lead infrastructure initiatives related to:

    • Manufacturing facility IT build-outs and expansions

    • Data center build-outs, refreshes, and migrations

    • Enterprise server, data, and backup solutions (Data Centers, NAS, DR, Backup, Server Patching, Active Directory, OS upgrades)

  • Drive large-scale infrastructure implementations integrating plant floor systems (OT) with enterprise IT

  • Lead implementation and refresh of enterprise network solutions including multi-site connectivity, Factory LAN/WLAN, DNS, and DHCP

  • Ensure accurate capture of manufacturing and business requirements


Construction & Facilities Collaboration

  • Partner closely with General Contractors and Facilities teams during construction implementations

  • Interpret and guide infrastructure design using:

    • Structured cabling standards

    • Division 27 standards

    • AV standards

    • Telecom and construction drawings for office and industrial environments


Cloud & Modern Infrastructure

  • Lead or support cloud migration and deployment strategies

  • Apply strong understanding of cloud computing principles

  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform


Cross-Functional Communication & Alignment

  • Facilitate cross-functional planning and design sessions with:

    • Manufacturing Engineers

    • Network Engineers

    • SRE / DevOps

    • Facilities Designers

    • Low Voltage / AEOR Design teams

  • Communicate effectively at all levels, translating technical concepts for business and executive stakeholders


Risk, Issue & Change Management

  • Develop and maintain robust program risk management plans

  • Proactively identify and resolve schedule, technical, and delivery risks

  • Use critical thinking and independent problem-solving to overcome complex challenges

  • Ensure testing, commissioning, and cutovers occur without disruption to operations


Tools & Systems

  • Utilize project management and collaboration tools such as:

    • Smartsheet

    • Jira

    • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

  • 8+ years of experience managing complex, cross-functional IT infrastructure projects, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure programs across facilities, data centers, and enterprise IT

  • Strong experience in construction-related IT infrastructure and facilities coordination
