Job Title: UI/UX Analyst
Client: State Michigan Location: Lansing, MI (Onsite) Type: Contract Duration: 12+ Months
Job Description:
The UI/UX Analyst is responsible for establishing the overall application look and feel, and for designing, communicating, and executing all user interface screens based on business requirements. This role works closely with the Business Analyst and Technical Lead to deliver solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations and user experience goals.
Responsibilities:
- Understand project scope and collaborate with the project team to meet objectives for functionality, usability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with the Business Analyst to examine existing processes and systems for effective interface design and usability.
- Conduct usability testing with UAT testers to ensure conformance with UI/UX best practices.
- Resolve critical UI/UX issues and participate in all requirement gathering meetings.
- Conduct user interviews, research, observations, and testing. Develop personas, user flows/journey maps, and/or storyboards as needed.
- Facilitate regular design meetings during application development.
- Analyze current user flows and pain points to deliver usability and visual design improvements.
- Lead visual design, usability, and accessibility initiatives. Provide design pattern guidance and screen layout direction.
- Advocate for the end user to continuously enhance usability and product design.
- Create sketches, wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes based on user stories and requirements. Ensure conformance to State of Michigan Applications and Site Standards and ADA requirements.
- Review wireframes with Business Analyst and Technical Lead prior to business presentation.
- Provide tools and checklists to assist development teams with UI/UX best practices and ADA remediation.
- Perform accessibility testing for ADA compliance.
- Conduct usability tests with target users and iterate screen designs accordingly.
- Advise developers on accessibility and ADA vulnerability remediation.
- Serve as liaison to DTMB Center for Shared Solutions (CSS) eMichigan team.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in user interface design
- 3 to 5 years of experience in user research
- Education or certification in graphic design, interaction design, visual communication, or related field
- Portfolio submission required to demonstrate skills and projects
- Submission of 2 to 3 professional references required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing to a set of design standards
- Experience designing to accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Experience performing usability and ADA testing
