Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly assertive, detail-oriented, and results-driven Senior Project Manager to lead complex mainframe modernization and data migration programs. This role requires exceptional communication skills, strong client-facing capabilities, and a proven track record in successfully managing large-scale legacy-to-modern data transformation initiatives. You will be the driving force behind the execution and delivery of critical modernization projects ensuring technical teams stay on track, stakeholders stay informed, and risks are proactively mitigated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead full lifecycle project management for mainframe migration and data modernization initiatives across cloud and on-premise environments

  • Drive and inspire cross-functional technical teams, ensuring focus, accountability, and timely delivery

  • Act as the primary liaison with client stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring alignment with business goals

  • Plan, manage, and execute complex data extraction, mapping, conversion, and validation from legacy systems (Adabas, IDMS, VSAM, DB2 z/OS) to RDBMS platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)

  • Facilitate resolution of cross-code, data-related bugs, performance issues, and tool integration challenges

  • Monitor and report on project progress, milestones, risks, and deliverables using PM tools (JIRA, MS Project, etc.)

  • Manage project governance, documentation, QA/UAT coordination, and change control processes

  • Provide strategic insights to leadership and offer clear feedback to R&D and engineering teams

  • Conduct performance reviews, lead daily standups, and maintain strict alignment with project timelines and budgets

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master s preferred)

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT project management, including 5+ years in leading data migration / modernization projects

  • Strong experience with mainframe technologies (z/OS, IMS, VSAM, JCL, COBOL) and relational DBs (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)

  • Demonstrated success managing data migration or system modernization projects in enterprise environments

  • Excellent understanding of ETL, data mapping, validation, and performance optimization

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills must be able to influence stakeholders and lead meetings with senior executives

  • Must be assertive, proactive, organized, and highly detail-oriented

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure in fast-paced environments

  • Experience working with both Windows and Linux environments

  • Project Management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum) highly desirable.
