Job Details
Position: Sr. Network Specialist with 15+ Years of Exp only
Location: Brooklyn, NY (Locals only)
Duration: Contract C2C
Mandatory Networking Skills:
- Extensive Routing Protocol Experience
- BGP (iBGP and eBGP) configuration, troubleshooting, route policies
- MPLS L3VPN, TE, QoS over MPLS
- OSPF multi-area, route redistribution, design best practices
- Minimum 15 years in Networking in large environments.
- Strong hands-on work with Cisco routing/switching in enterprise or service provider setups.
Desirable Skills:
Cisco Platform & Technology Expertise
- Especially important for this specific NYC OTI project:
- Cisco NCS routers deployment, IOS-XR familiarity, understanding hardware limitations (line cards, power supplies, feature sets).
- Multiple ring configurations over dark fiber.
- Core/PE & CPE router/switch configuration in mid-to-large networks.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise QoS solutions.
Network Management & Monitoring Skills
- Configuring and troubleshooting:
- SNMPv3
- Syslog
- NetFlow
- NTP
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, and telemetry best practices.
Network Design & Documentation
- Ability to produce network architectural diagrams (preferably in MS Visio).
- Updating asset management in ServiceNow.
- Creating and following configuration templates.
- Decommissioning processes (removing unused IPs, cleaning configs, updating docs).
Soft Skills & Work Approach
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
- Cross-functional team collaboration.
- Customer and quality focus.
- Onsite fieldwork readiness travel across all five boroughs.
- Ability to work in scheduled maintenance windows.
