Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled HP NonStop (Tandem) Developer with deep experience in COBOL and TAL to design, develop, test, and deploy mission-critical financial transaction systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real-time authorization processing, batch file integrations, and working in high-availability, 24/7 operational environments within the banking or payments industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, and deploy COBOL and TAL programs on HP NonStop (Tandem) systems in a high-risk, high-volume transaction environment.
  • Develop and support real-time authorization systems, including credit/debit card approval workflows at point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Manage batch processing activities, including handling flat files and SQL table integrations from mainframe systems.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with external systems and databases (e.g., DB2).
  • Participate in code reviews, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of production systems.
  • Utilize Git for version control and Jenkins for automated builds and deployments.
  • Collaborate in an Agile environment using tools like Jira for sprint planning and issue tracking.
  • Provide production support and troubleshooting for critical, time-sensitive financial applications.
  • Ensure code quality, security, and compliance with internal and industry standards.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience with HP NonStop (Tandem) systems.
  • Strong hands-on programming experience in COBOL and TAL; knowledge of C is a plus.
  • Proficient in DB2 and SQL database interactions.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with JCL and REXX scripting is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of real-time authorization and batch processing systems.
  • Experience working in financial services, banking, or payment processing domains.
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in 24/7 production environments with critical uptime requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience with source code management tools using Control (not Endeavor).
  • Prior work on ISO 8583 message formats or payment authorization networks is a strong plus.
