Senior Systems Programmer – Mainframe Middleware & Networking

Location: Remote

Overview:
Heitmeyer is seeking a Senior Systems Programmer to support and optimize IBM z/OS middleware and networking in a high-volume banking environment. This role focuses on CICS, DB2, MQ, and mainframe networking performance, reliability, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and support CICS, DB2, and IBM MQ on z/OS

  • Diagnose and resolve latency, SSL/TLS, and transmission issues

  • Manage TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA, HiperSockets, and Enterprise Extender

  • Monitor and tune system performance using OMEGAMON, NetView, RMF

  • Develop JCL, REXX, and automation scripts

  • Support security (AT-TLS, IPSEC, RACF/ACF2/TSS) and regulatory compliance

  • Participate in DR planning, failover testing, and system upgrades

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years mainframe systems programming experience

  • Strong in z/OS, CICS, DB2, IBM MQ, TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA

  • Knowledge of Sysplex, LPARs, JES2/JES3

  • Experience in banking or regulated environments preferred

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
