Position: Systems Administrator II
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Salary Range: $75,000 - $118,000 annually


Overview


This position is responsible for supporting, securing, and maintaining enterprise-level IT systems and infrastructure, with a strong focus on Windows server environments, networking, cybersecurity, and compliance. The role involves managing system configurations, ensuring software and hardware compatibility, overseeing access controls, and providing continuous operational support. Additionally, the role requires experience with monitoring tools and a strong understanding of system security protocols.


Key Responsibilities




  • Serve as a primary or secondary custodian for encrypted communication materials, ensuring proper handling and compliance.




  • Oversee the daily performance and security of Windows server systems, including configuration, system access, and data backups.




  • Define technical requirements for local area networks (LAN), monitor system performance, and troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues.




  • Establish and manage secure directory structures, and provide training and guidance to staff on document management systems and related procedures.




  • Create and maintain intuitive and visually appealing web pages.




  • Determine hardware needs and maintain inventory records, including configuration tracking and asset documentation.




  • Act as a central point of contact for software updates, system issues, and vendor support coordination.




  • Provide recommendations for new tools, system enhancements, and process improvements. Lead system upgrades and transitions across development, testing, and production environments.




  • Deliver system status updates and contribute to overall IT strategy and planning.




  • Work independently with minimal supervision, applying advanced knowledge to complex tasks and offering innovative solutions.




  • Administer, configure, and fine-tune enterprise-level monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk) for threat detection and operational insight.




  • Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and search queries within monitoring tools, ensuring data is normalized and compliant with security guidelines.




  • Maintain awareness of security hardening guidelines and standards.




Qualifications




  • Associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent technical training.




  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in IT systems administration and support.




  • Strong background in Windows Server environments, cybersecurity tools, databases, and various desktop and enterprise applications.




  • Proven ability to manage complex IT systems, plan infrastructure upgrades, and troubleshoot technical issues.




  • Skilled in using tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Office Suite, and web development applications.




  • Familiarity with data normalization standards and system compliance frameworks is highly desirable.




  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.




  • Experience with repair, maintenance, and upgrade of computer systems.
