Mainframe CICS Engineer/Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Key Required Skills:

CICS Abend-AID/FX, CICSPlex Systems Manager, BMC 3270 Super Optimizer for CICS or Softdate software within CICS environment

Position Description:

• Provides expert leadership and guidance with current principles and practices of architecture data management systems and experience in large system designs, and with data modeling in the information management arena.
• Provides expert leadership and guidance in modeling and organizing information to facilitate support of projects or information architectures
• Provides expert leadership and guidance on how and what to data and process model. Primarily functions as senior resource for transition planning from legacy to modern systems by concentrating on information flows and data exchange, and data translation standardization services.
• Analyze high-level requirements and develop detailed design documents.
• Develop and manage CICS systems-level and application software using Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), Assembler Language Code (ALC), or Java.
• Develop comprehensive test plans to ensure validation of functional requirements.
• Perform life cycle management and coordination of software changes across Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Develop and manage documentation stored on SharePoint for CICS systems and application software.
• Identify and eliminate Single Points of Failure" within CICS.
• Supply maintenance to CICS software and third-party vendor software using SMP/E across SDLC, once every two years.
• Install, support, and utilize IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE and IBM's Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) for CICS.

Skills Requirements:

FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering, Computer Science. Mathematics or a related field.
• 10 years of experience planning, designing, building, and implementing IT systems.
• 10 years of experience working with CICS System programming or related continual experience.
• 8 years of experience providing technical experience with mainframe demand, capacity, and performance management.
• Ability to clearly communicate and coordinate software upgrades with the task manager and the CICS monitor room.
• Produce design documents and flowcharts using Microsoft Word, Visio, or Power Point.
• Experience managing major projects from end to end

FACTORS TO HELP YOU SHINE (Required Skills)

These skills will help you succeed in this position:

• Experience in the installation and support of CICS Abend-AID/FX, CICSPlex Systems Manager, BMC 3270 Super Optimizer for CICS or Softdate' software within CICS environment.
• Experience in modifying CICS architecture to eliminate Single Points of Failure within CICS.
• Experience in Process Job Control Language (JCL) and RDO modifications from service requests assigned by the task manager
• Experience in performing CICS and WebSphere system dump analysis and provide recommendations.
• Experience in CICS programming using Java, Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), or similar web-based application software to identify/isolate problems.
• Experience with installing, upgrading and maintaining ITM Software for CICS, MVS, MQ and DB2 via TEPS and TOM.
• Investigate CICS storage violations and recommend dynamic changes to CICS region settings to correct or contain CICS problems, with approval from the work activity manager or designee.

Education:

• Bachelors degree with 3+ years of experience.
