Title: Associate Desktop Support Specialist
Location : Rockville, MD (hybrid 3x week)
Target Start Date :September 1, 2025
Type: contract
Pay Rate: DOE

Role Overview
Join our team as an entry-level Associate Desktop Support Specialist I, where you'll deliver quality Tier II assistance for desktop workstations, applications, and related technologies. You'll help with software installations, hardware diagnostics, OS refreshes, and remote support-all under direct supervision. You'll also actively develop your technical and customer service skills in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier II desktop and application support for hardware (laptops, desktops, mobile devices) and software-including remote assistance.
  • Handle overflow Tier I support tasks and assist desktop engineers on project-based assignments.
  • Configure and deploy equipment for new hires, transfers, and departing staff.
  • Support office moves by refreshing hardware/software as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues efficiently.
  • Document support interactions and resolutions using a ticketing or ITSM system.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-tier support or network teams as appropriate.
  • Ensure all work adheres to internal quality, security, and compliance standards.
  • Maintain familiarity with the organization's technology stack and environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and macOS desktop environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Intune, MECM/SCCM, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills-able to diagnose, replicate, and resolve common technical issues.
  • Familiarity with active directory, imaging tools, remote support software, and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to explain technical solutions clearly to non-technical users.
  • Customer-service oriented, patient, adaptive, and collaborative.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple concurrent support issues.
  • Motivated to learn, document knowledge, and grow technical capabilities.
  • Entry-level education: High school diploma (required); Associate degree or IT certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator, or equivalent) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
  • Familiarity with ticketing workflows, user onboarding procedures, and IT asset management.
  • Ability to contribute to documentation-such as knowledge base articles, troubleshooting guides, or standard operating procedures.
