Job Title: Technical Project Manager

Location: Chicago, IL (On-site)

Contract: W2 Only

Duration: 12+ Months

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead complex technology initiatives from conception to delivery. You will bridge engineering and business teams to drive successful execution of software development, cloud migration, and infrastructure projects while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycles for technical initiatives (software development, system integrations, cloud deployments)
  • Define project scope, timelines, budgets, and success metrics in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Implement Agile (Scrum/Kanban) or hybrid methodologies tailored to project needs
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies
  • Facilitate requirements gathering between engineering teams and business units
  • Oversee architecture reviews and technical decision-making processes
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows in collaboration with engineering
  • Ensure compliance with security and infrastructure standards
  • Serve as primary liaison between executives, engineers, and cross-functional teams
  • Deliver regular progress reports with metrics on velocity, quality, and budget
  • Align vendor partnerships with project objectives (SaaS integrations, managed services)
  • Optimize SDLC processes through retrospectives and metrics analysis
  • Champion best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation
  • Drive adoption of productivity tools (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps)

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 12+ years in technical project management with hands-on experience in:
    • Software development (web/mobile/cloud applications)
    • System integrations (APIs, microservices, data pipelines)
    • Infrastructure projects (cloud migration, network upgrades)
  • PMP, CSM, or SAFe certification (or equivalent experience)
  • Technical fluency to understand:
    • Cloud architectures (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform)
    • DevOps toolchains (CI/CD, IaC, monitoring)
    • Software development frameworks
  • Expert-level proficiency with Jira, MS Project, or equivalent
  • Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background as developer, sysadmin, or solutions architect
  • Experience with AI/ML or data engineering projects
