BUSINESS PROBLEM, CONTEXT & INITIATIVE DESCRIPTION

Our F500 BioPharma client is seeking an Automation Engineer to support its new Packaging facility's automated warehouse. This critical Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and validating automated warehouse systems, including Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) within a GMP environment. This role involves ensuring that technologies and processes operate as intended and collaborating extensively with various departments such as Quality, Production, Safety, Commissioning, and Qualification.

Automation Engineer will report into the Head of Engineering & Automation Systems and work on a team with 3 other Automation Engineers.

DUTIES / EXPECTATIONS OF THIS ROLE

  • Collaborate in Designing, developing, and testing of automation solutions.
  • Lead commissioning and qualification (CQV) processes.
  • Ensure technologies and processes are functioning as planned.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, Safety, Commissioning, and Qualification to ensure seamless integration and operation of automation systems.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to schedule and manage activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.

MUST HAVES QUALIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas is required: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, or Computer Science.
    • For candidates with substantial automation experience: Engineering degrees in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or similar fields may be considered
  • 2-5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/GMP industry
    • Preferred experience in a GMP environment, particularly in Biopharma.
  • 2-5 years of automation experience. Sound understanding of typical automation system components (HMI, PLC, Network, Field Devices). Ability to make recommendations and lead troubleshooting efforts methodically.
  • Work collaboratively with third-party vendors to coordinate, schedule, and manage activities.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Commissioning Qualification & Validation, Safety, Production, Site IT, and Site Engineering teams to ensure project success.

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Experience with ASRS & AGV (or other relevant robotics technologies/products) a plus
