Job Description Summary
Primary focus of this position is to support in developing, optimizing, implementing, and validating components/elements of a medical device. The candidate will perform hands-on testing in optimization of a device; conduct process development activities to understand process inputs and outputs; assist/write technical documents, validation protocols and reports; prepare work instructions and standard operating procedures; assist in conducting design and process qualification and validation; support equipment development; support other activities from R&D, Quality, Operations, and Regulatory Affairs.

Position Summary
This position focuses on supporting the development, optimization, implementation, and validation of medical device components. The role involves hands-on testing for device optimization, process development to understand inputs and outputs, technical documentation, protocol and report writing, preparation of work instructions and SOPs, design and process validation, equipment development, and cross-functional support for R&D, Quality, Operations, and Regulatory Affairs teams.

Physical Demands
The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using sight, and manipulating objects/tools. Verbal communication with associates is frequently required. Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching may be necessary.
Work Environment
Work is primarily conducted in an open cubicle environment within a team-oriented, fast-paced setting. Position Summary

Essential Responsibilities
- Design: Translate design inputs into engineering specifications and drawings, select appropriate materials and processes, challenge designs against specifications and standards, and build test parts for evaluation and studies
- Process Development: Develop and optimize processes using statistical methods like DOE, support new equipment and tooling development
- Documentation: Prepare work instructions, SOPs, technical documents, material specifications, drawings, and validation protocols/reports
- Test Method Development: Develop and validate engineering test methods and simulated use test methods
- Testing: Perform lab testing, conduct engineering evaluations, development unit testing, and execute verification/validation activities
- Training: Train technicians on new designs, processes, and test methods
- Supervisory: Mentor/coach R&D technicians, potentially lead technicians or engineering interns
- Support Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory & R&D for compliance with internal/external guidelines
- Assist with root cause analysis and support non-conforming product and complaint investigations
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 3-5 years of industrial experience in R&D or process development, preferably in medical device or FDA/QSR and ISO regulated environments
- Demonstrated hands-on technical aptitude
- Experience in process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), protocol/report writing for verification and validation activities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Biomedical Engineering or Bioengineering degree
- Data analysis skills and proficiency in statistical software
- Knowledge of cGMP and GLP
- Training in Six Sigma or Design for Six Sigma
