About the Role: The Juniper Mist Travel Network Engineer will participate in and/or lead network infrastructure assessments and site survey projects for customer enterprises, focusing on network transformations from Cisco to Juniper. This role involves the physical installation of 6-8 VA Clinics and Medical Centers per month, requiring approximately 26 site visits (CONUS) with 50% monthly travel, adhering to federal travel guidelines. The engineer will work at an enterprise level, collaborating with cross-functional teams to contribute to strategic and enterprise plans. The ideal candidate will have SME-level knowledge and extensive experience in network engineering, testing, and implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in and/or lead network infrastructure assessments and site survey projects.
- Physically install 6-8 VA Clinics and Medical Centers per month.
- Conduct approximately 26 site visits (CONUS) per month, with 50% travel.
- Implement Cisco to Juniper network transformations.
- Evaluate network design and configuration baselines and standards.
- Evaluate network performance reports and provide network consulting support.
- Engineer/re-engineer networks consistent with customer service level requirements and approved requirements documents (e.g., IPv6, multi-VRF, QoS).
- Plan logical addressing, redundancy, and capacity (logical & physical).
- Provide technical information and final technical editing for all documents and proposals.
- Work at an enterprise level and in cross-functional teams to develop strategic and enterprise plans.
- Evaluate network performance reports and provide network consulting support.
Essential Skills:
- SME-level knowledge and proven experience in network technologies.
- Extensive network engineering, testing, and implementation experience.
- Expertise in network technologies: LAN, WAN, intranets, extranets, SDN, QoS.
- Experience with Cisco to Juniper network transformations.
- Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls, Up Logix LM83(x), Cisco LAN 9500 and 9300s.
- Familiarity with types of cabling, interfaces, and accurate device connectivity.
- Ability to add IP addresses.
- Ability to evaluate network design and configuration baselines and standards.
