Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Sample accessioning, embedding, microtomy, cryotomy
  • Staining of chromogenic and immunofluorescent singleplex and multiplexing panels using an automated IHC platform
  • Imaging of stained slides with a whole slide scanner
  • Quality assessment of stained/scanned samples and controls
  • Creation of basic and/or complex experimental study designs
  • Communicate and present results to colleagues
  • Maintain accurate tissue, slide, and lab records in an electronic notebook; document methods in SOPs and results in technical reports
  • Clean and maintain instruments and work areas
  • Work closely with the histology team, in vivo pharmacology team, pathologists, and other researchers develop tailored histology solutions.
  • Keep informed of the latest developments in histology and apply new techniques to improve existing workflows.


Qualifications:

  • More than 3 years of histology experience or previous industry-related research experience
  • Strong understanding and technical competence with immunohistochemistry techniques, antibody validation, assay development and immunofluorescent multiplexing
  • Previous experience with IHC automated staining platforms
  • Technical competence in basic histology
  • Knowledge of basic tissue histology/pathology
  • Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks for completion within expected time-frames
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Google Workspace software or comparable software
  • Preferred Histology Technician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification
  • Preferred experience with image analysis.


Environmental Conditions / Physical Demands:

  • 80% of time onsite conducting wet lab work
  • Prolonged periods of standing at laboratory tables
  • Physical: Lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally, standing, bending, repetitive movement, etc.
  • Environmental risks: Exposure to wet lab environment, blood borne pathogens, and toxic or caustic chemical or reagents
