Job Description

About the role:

You will be a team member of the Automation Engineering group. This group ensures that the manufacturing equipment/systems and Automation systems used in the manufacture, storage, testing, and distribution of Takeda products are fit for purpose observing Takeda standards and industry regulatory requirements.

You will be responsible for operational, maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration or programming of site automation systems servicing the manufacturing and utilities areas. You will support the site automation system Siemens Simatic IT EBR (SIEMENS OPCENTER PHARMA) and others, but the primary service will be the Site EBM/MES - Siemens IT EBR (SIEMENS OPCENTER PHARMA) system. The Engineer will implement area and system improvements through strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP's in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility, and you will report to the Automation EBM Manager - Automation Engineering.

How you will contribute:
  • Develop Automation skills and expand your Engineering toolkit to support ongoing operations
  • Understands the basics of Manufacturing Execution System/Electronic Batch Record and their operations with guidance.
  • Uses SIEMENS OPCENTER PHARMA following detailed instructions, requiring guidance at every step
  • Interacts with DCS/DeltaV/PCS following specific instructions.
  • Understands the interaction between electrical and mechanical systems with guidance.
  • Writes recipe programs in SIEMENS OPCENTER PHARMA, heavily relying on example codes.
  • Executes basic vba/sql commands from tutorials, with minimal practical experience.
  • Follows algorithm instructions step-by-step, with heavy reliance on guidelines.
  • Performs tasks in SIEMENS OPCENTER PHARMA following detailed instructions.
  • Troubleshoots simple problems following step-by-step guidelines.
  • Performs automation tasks under direct supervision, understanding the technologies involved minimally.
  • Support the 24/7 production with on-call support on a rotating schedule with a customer-focused mindset to ensure product is continually delivered to our patients
  • Design, implement, validate, and deploy changes using GMP/GDP and Automation Change Management principles
  • Develop cross-functional partnerships with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, Validation, and Process
  • Troubleshoot emergent operational issues in collaboration with peers in Process Engineering, Facilities, and Manufacturing
  • Work with vendors and Automation team to implement projects and initiatives

What You Bring to Takeda:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, sciences, mathematic, or computer technology required. Some related experience preferred.
  • Programming/scripting skills. Knowledge of the systems software development life cycle.
  • Must have experience using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team-based environment.
  • Must display a willingness to learn and improve.
  • Can work on shift for issue escalation support.
  • You will require participation in a rotating after-hour process control support function.

Important Considerations:

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. You may:
  • May wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other clean room garments daily. This may include safety shoes, safety glasses, aprons, face shields, lab coats, full body gowns, hair nets and gloves and hearing protection.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$70,000.00 - $110,000.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives.
